Stormy Christmas Day forecast for Sydney
Tuesday Dec 11 20:25 AEDT
A hot and stormy Christmas Day has been forecast for Sydney. The daytime temperature will hit a maximum 27 degrees after a minimum overnight Christmas Eve temperature of 20 degrees.
But meteorological company Weatherzone also warned that conditions will deteriorate later, a possible dampener for a Christmas evening barbecue.
“Humid and warm is the outlook for Sydney this Christmas Day as the city continues its recent pattern of steamy festive seasons,” Weatherzone senior forecaster Matt Pearce said on Tuesday.
“Sydney can look forward to a cooling storm late in the day.”
Weatherzone said Sydney’s hottest Christmas Day was recorded in 1868, when the mercury hit 39 degrees.
The city’s coldest Christmas was a chilly 18 degrees maximum temperature recorded in 1962.
