I don’t think I’ve been around that much as the kids all look a bit surprised when I arrive at the dinner table.
We’ ve just recently purchased a rather large opportunity in America which needs to be incorporated into Australia which is taking up a bit of time!
We had planned to take a weeks holiday when all the kids were in the same city over school holidays and the only week that Josh was going to be here was last week.
The intention was to take a holiday at the beach and spend some time all together for the first time since Josh got back from boarding school. Bizarrely the schools in Australia all take different times for holidays so it takes a bit of co-ordination.
The reality was that I spent 3 days in a conference room overlooking Sydney Harbour eating mintos.
I even contemplated dropping one into my colleagues coke bottle just for the effect. Needless to say I didn’t as it was a rather posh venue and I’d be scrubbing the walls for a week not to mention the fall-out in such esteemed company.
As you can imagine Tracie was none too happy when the holiday was cancelled and is making me pay every day for ruining the family time. Quite right I suppose.
We got broken into last month - the culprits broke into the garage and stole all our electronics out the cars - including our ipods- which had been painfully uploaded with all my favourite blasts from the pasts. Bastards.
Thankfully we had Haggis, our killer guard dog, who slept through the whole event.
Two days later we cut his nuts off. He’s barked at every person that passes the house since.
Our family supper before Joshua goes back to boarding school tomorrow morning.
The last 3 weeks is like having a complete stranger in the house. He’s super friendly, doesn’t grunt, does his chores, has made friends with the kids around and plays with the twins. It’s like someone has zanussied a completely different kid back into the family.
I’m going to miss this fantastic teenager for the next 7 weeks - he’s becoming a real pal. We even went to see the Bourne Ultimatum and didn’t argue about a thing. Even he agreed it was a great film. Although dodgy camera action at times made me feel a bit car sick.
Needless to say - Mollie is complete nightmare as the prodigal son has returned in her eyes. SHe now does a brilliant impression of Harry Enfieilds character - Kevin. Without even trying.
The thing is she’ll be upset when he leaves tomorrow.
